For some dog owners the idea of having their dog to move around on their own is exciting. This will take the control out of a possible bad situation that might develop with the dog. For other dog owners it may seem like an unnecessary risk when so many things can be done by trained professionals for just a minimal fee. The question remains whether or not a self-move with dogs is safe for your dog and how much does it cost you? Here are some answers to those questions.

First, we have to mention that not all dog owners like to have their dogs move around. There are those that feel very strongly about owning a dog and nothing that will change their mind. On the other hand, we have to admit that having dogs make life easier and more enjoyable for people. It doesn't matter if you are a new home owner or an old pro. Dogs make great companions and are always there to watch out for us. We don't have to worry about them being unsafe while on our property or running off with someone's suitcase.

Many dog owners feel that their dogs need to go through training in order to learn how to self-move. This is true and why it is so important to work with your vet trainers when it comes to this process. Your vet will work with you on scheduling your animal to be moved and at what time. They will also work with you in deciding how long you should stay in your new home before you must leave.

Most dogs learn how to self move on their own within three days. This is usually good for dogs that are still very new to being alone and moving around. They will move around in packs, so the first few days they won't be able to decide for themselves what to do. They will learn to explore their new surroundings and figure things out on their own. After this period you can allow the dog to get comfortable with their new home and then you can let them out to go enjoy yourself.

If you find that your dog is too afraid to go out then you might want to try to scare them into it. Many times you can catch a dog off guard by showing them an object that they don't know where it is. This process will work best for younger dogs but if you older dogs are reluctant then it might be something else to consider. Try and stay calm but don't yell or scream at your dog. Just use a positive praise strategy that can work wonders.

One thing that many dog owners do not realize is that a dog has its own pack mentality. Because of this it is important to teach your dog that they are part of a pack and they need to go where the pack goes. That doesn't mean they can go and play on the sofa. You have to show them that the family is a group and that they need to listen to their leader. If you take the time to teach these basic dog obedience skills then you can move into the self move with dogs as well.
